TOP TEN
"ORGIASTIC FEASTS FOR THE SENSES"

While watching my favorite re-runs of Seinfeld, Kramer described a piece of fruit as an "orgiastic feast for the senses" and I thought of some of the 'give-you-chills' feasts for the senses that I've had:

1. Listening to the Auburn Marching Band in Jordan-Hare Stadium playing the Auburn Fight Song
2. Singing along in the car (loudly! and knowing every word) to "Pour Some Sugar on Me"
3. Riding in a convertible on a summer night listening to Jimmy Buffet belt out the "Great Filling Station Holdup"
4. Smelling Mom's cooking! (some favs include: fried okra, mashed potatoes, cornbread, squash casserole and country fried steak)
5. Running through the "victory line" on Friday nights when I was a cheerleader at Fort Payne High
6. Hearing the Alabama Band sing "My Home's in Alabama" at the June Jam
7. Shelling peas and making cakes with my grandmother when I was little
8. Flying my first solo flight in a Cessna 150
9. Seeing Lionel Richie in concert (and in person!)
10. The Auburn Marching Band in Jordan-Hare Sta.....(did I mention this one already?) LOL

The New Toy

Here it is!! The "new to us" Z3 1997 BMW convertible. It's adorable, fun, and gets great gas mileage, but it's hard to keep Will out of it!

Baby Genius?

The old downtown theatre in Fort Payne has a marquee that can be rented for announcements, meeting reminders, advertising, etc. Today there was this message (on BOTH sides, requiring twice the money): "Happy 1st Birthday, Emma Campbell! Love, your family"
It might be just me, but I don't think Emma read this.

Cheers!

It's not enough to live in a small town 'where everybody knows your name'....NOOOOO, I have to live in a small town where somebody else HAS my name!
Susan "C" Hawkins is my beautiful sister-in-law. She is a history teacher at Fort Payne Middle School, and she and Chuck have 5 kids. Chuck has a blog too, so check that out.
She and I (Susan "T" Hawkins) are pictured here with our handsome Hawkins husbands in Hilton Head, SC (wow, that was some alliteration). Another neat thing about our names is that our maiden name initial matches the first intial of our spouse's name. Pretty cool, huh? That's how most people tell us apart. Susan "C" is married to Chuck, Susan "T" is married to Terry.
Come see us in Fort Payne, "where everybody knows OUR name".

Isn't That Special!?

Last Sunday, Amy, Will and I had lunch at Neighbors in Atlanta on our way to Athens for yet another golf tournament. Our waiter came over and said he would like to tell us the lunch specials and they were, "Chef salad or two chili dogs from yesterday..." ???????
We're still laughing about that one! I'm wondering......Did u suppose that came with 'flies'?

One Fish, Two Fish,
Red Fish, Blue Fish
Remember the fantastic creatures of this book, like the Yink who likes to wink and drink pink ink? And the Zeds who have only one hair on their heads, or the seven-humped wump owned by Mister Gump? All of these wonderful characters came flooding back to my mind when I started counting all the fish Terry caught at Weiss Lake.

Just as I'll never quite understand what a Gack is, I'll never really know the appeal of getting up before daylight, usually in non-desirable temperatures and sitting patiently in a boat with a stick in my hand. Although, because Terry loves this ritual, he's always bringing home plenty of fish to eat!

And that's really good, Sam-I-am, because we do not like green eggs and ham. We do not like them in a box, we do not like them with a fox; we do not like them in the rain, we do not like them on a train......

Not Your Ordinary Cow Pasture

I had the privilege this week of going with Will to a golf tournament close to Sylacauga, Alabama named Farmlinks. It was literally out in the middle of NOWHERE, with NO GPS recognition from my car and NO cell service. I thought surely it would be three days of pure cow-pasture golf (remembering the name and all). I couldn't have been more wrong!

Farmlinks is the world's first research and demonstration golf course "created to showcase turf and golf industry innovation", owned by Pursell Technologies, Inc. and is perfectly manicured. Emplyoyees were out 24/7 watering greens, clipping grass with scissors, checking for lint on the fairways....(ok, maybe that's a little exaggerated, but you get the picture!) When the kids wanted to practice their putting on the practice green, they had to remove their golf shoes in order not to "scar up" the putting surface!

Even for us spectator golfers, this course was absolutely beautiful, with more "pristine vistas" (as one of my friends would say) than you can imagine. I had a wonderful time enjoying the junior golfers and the scenery, Will shot under par the last two days, and a good time was had by all.
