Blake signs with UAB

Just wanted everyone to know that our senior on the FPHS golf team, Blake Watts (pictured in previous posts with Will), has been offered a golf scholarship with University of Alabama in Birmingham and plans to sign with them in a couple of weeks. Great job, Blake! We're proud of you!

Will sets a new record!

Looks like practicing and persistence does pay off! Will shot a personal record round yesterday at Terrapin Hills of 65! That is 6 under par, with 6 birdies and no bogies.
Way to go Will!! I know you set your goals high in everything you do and I'm so proud of your determination.
(Borrowed the pic from Amy's flickr account...thanks Oat!)

Not Too Clear

These pictures taken with my camera phone are not too clear, but I love sharing them with everyone. This is my sweet brother, Kirk, and his daughter, Kristen...taken on the golf course last Sunday. Also not too clear: how he could have produced such a beautiful daughter! LOL Love you both so much and so happy to have you all back in Fort Payne!

Tournament Winners

Will and Blake Watts took 2nd and 1st place, respectively, in this past weekend's Southeastern Junior Golf Tournament at Terrapin Hills in Fort Payne. Will shot a 69 on Saturday and 70 on Sunday with an eagle on #18, and Blake shot an amazing two-day score of 67-69. Congratulations boys! We're all proud of you!

Winners in spite of the Razorbacks!

In spite of Auburn's dissapointing loss to the Arkansas Razorbacks, we're still winners. Will was invited to go on an "unofficial" golf recruiting trip with Auburn Athletics this weekend. He was given three free tickets and passes for the game, hospitality tents, etc. He took his two best friends, Hunter and Blake, and they were treated like royalty!
They started with a buffet breakfast in the athletics tent on Saturday morning (adjacent to watching the awesome Tiger Walk, and chatting with other golfers), they stood on the sidelines for the player warmup, and sat with head golf coach, Mike Griffin, during the game in the recruiting section. They all had a large time (as my brother would say), and I know it was an experience that Will will never forget. (His mom and grandparents, as you can see, were very proud as well.) HA WAR EAGLE!
