Not Your Ordinary Cow Pasture

I had the privilege this week of going with Will to a golf tournament close to Sylacauga, Alabama named Farmlinks. It was literally out in the middle of NOWHERE, with NO GPS recognition from my car and NO cell service. I thought surely it would be three days of pure cow-pasture golf (remembering the name and all). I couldn't have been more wrong!

Farmlinks is the world's first research and demonstration golf course "created to showcase turf and golf industry innovation", owned by Pursell Technologies, Inc. and is perfectly manicured. Emplyoyees were out 24/7 watering greens, clipping grass with scissors, checking for lint on the fairways....(ok, maybe that's a little exaggerated, but you get the picture!) When the kids wanted to practice their putting on the practice green, they had to remove their golf shoes in order not to "scar up" the putting surface!

Even for us spectator golfers, this course was absolutely beautiful, with more "pristine vistas" (as one of my friends would say) than you can imagine. I had a wonderful time enjoying the junior golfers and the scenery, Will shot under par the last two days, and a good time was had by all.

Great job Will! I am so proud of you! That truly is a beautiful golf course. It is funny walking onto different tee boxes and reading the various types of grasses that they have used...kentucky blue grass, etc (really just cannot remember any of the others, but there were several).
