FPHS Golf Season Begins

The Fort Payne High School golf team is off to a great start! This week, they competed in their first high school tournament of the season, the Blue-Gray Tournament at Wynlakes CC in Montgomery. This is probably the largest high school tournament in Alabama for the season, with 25 teams playing and a total of 135 participants.

Our boys came in 4th place (the best of the 5-A teams), and Will and Blake made the all-tournament team by scoring low individually. Will had a two-day total of 74-75 and was tied for 3rd, and Blake scored 76-74 to make the top honors as well. The all-tournament team is pictured here: Jacob Randall (Hewitt-Trussville), Hunter Hamrick (Montgomery Academy), Hunter Slatton (Northridge), Will and Blake, and Will Golden (Auburn High School). All of these boys (except our Will) have committed to Division 1 colleges with golf scholarships already, so Will is in good company!

We will travel to Auburn on Saturday for our second largest tournament, the Joe King Memorial at Auburn University Club. Congratulations boys!! Keep up the good work!

Wow! Will is in some good company, huh? Did he get a plaque for being the coolest, smartest, most handsome player in the tournament as well?
